Investor Relations
Founded in 1907, F&B Communications is a private, shareholder-owned community-based telecommunications provider offering Internet, TV, telephone and security services to customers in western Clinton County and eastern Cedar County in Iowa. The company also provides IT services to residential and small-business clients throughout east central Iowa.
In the early days of the company, then known as Farmers’ and Business Men’s Telephone Company, the people of Calamus and Wheatland sold shares of stock to generate capital to build the company with the goal of bringing telephone service to the area. While the service portfolio and service area has expanded throughout the years, the ideals of investing in and providing communications services to the people of the communities the company serves has not changed. The organization is governed by a board of directors and continues as a shareholder-owned service provider. Subscribers who reside in both the original and expanded telephone and Internet service areas are eligible shareholders.
Shares of stock typically passed through generations and remained with investors in the communities. While many shareholders continue to reside in the service areas, certain circumstances allow shareholders to reside outside of the service area. Over time, as many shareholders no longer had family living in the areas or outside shareholders needed to find buyers within the service areas, it became more challenging for sellers to make the connections with prospective buyers. The board of directors believes that it’s important to maintain an engaged shareholder base to continue the mission of providing first-class communications services as intended by the founders of the company. In order to facilitate the sale of shares and maintain an adequate pool of local shareholders, the company implemented a Share Buy-Sell Matching Program in 2025.
