GRANTS FOR SCHOOL, LIBRARY PROJECTS

WHEATLAND (IOWA) Two local organizations are the recipients of a combined $2,600 in grant funding from Aureon Network Services and F&B Communications.

Calamus-Wheatland Schools is the recipient of a $900 Aureon grant and a $900 match from F&B.

The project will equip the district’s school bus fleet with camera systems to enhance student and driver safety.

Lowden Public Library received a $400 Aureon Charity Grant plus a $400 matching contribution from F&B.

Grant funds are being used by the library to purchase additional shelving to house a growing number of materials in the early readers and juvenile fiction areas of the library.

F&B Communications, the local telecommunications provider in Calamus, Wheatland and Lowden, is one of more than 100 Iowa independent telephone company member-owners of Aureon Network Services, which helps to provide advanced telecommunications and data services across the state.

Nearly $37,200 has been awarded to organizations in the F&B Communications service area in the last 25 years since the charity grant program began.

The charity grant program is open to non-profit organizations in the F&B Communications service area. Grant applications are available online. Charity grants are awarded on a quarterly basis and chosen by an independent review committee organized by Aureon.

F&B Communications is the premiere local telecommunications provider offering telephone, long distance, Skitter TV video, high-speed fiber and DSL Internet, and home security services to customers in the Bennett, Calamus, Delmar, Lowden and Wheatland exchanges and surrounding areas. The company also provides computer sales and service through their Technology Solutions retail store.
