BROOKLYNN BIDDLE F&B SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
WHEATLAND (IOWA) Brooklynn Biddle, a senior at Calamus-Wheatland High School from rural Lowden, has been been named this year’s recipient of the local F&B Communications $1,000 scholarship.
Biddle plans to attend Wartburg College to major in biochemistry on a pre-veterinary track. In her application essay, she wrote about her goal of becoming a large animal surgeon to address the shortage of rural veterinarians and to improve animal welfare and health in her local community.
High school seniors who live in households in the F&B local service area were eligible for the award. Students submitted an application form and essay, and four finalists were selected for interviews.
A primary goal of the scholarship is to to help students pursue higher education and encourage young people to return to rural areas after graduation.
The local F&B scholarship program was established in 2003 because the Board of Directors and employees of F&B are committed to the education of local youth and believe learning is a lifelong process.
Brooklynn’s parents are Wynn and Erin Biddle.
